Magnum SIF offered by SBI Mutual Fund launches its first Investment strategy “Magnum Hybrid Long Short Fund”
Mumbai, September 24, 2025: SBI Mutual Fund, India’s largest fund house announces the launch of its 1st investment strategy under the new Specialized Investment Fund (SIF) framework, Magnum Hybrid Long Short Fund. It is an interval investment strategy investing predominantly in equity and debt securities, including limited short exposure in equity and debt through derivatives The New Fund Offer (NFO) will be open for subscription from October 01 – 15, 2025.
The investment objective of the investment strategy is to generate regular income by predominantly investing in Derivatives strategies like covered calls, arbitrage opportunities in the cash and derivatives segments of the equity markets and debt and money market instruments and to generate long-term capital appreciation through unhedged exposure to equity and equity related instruments. There is no assurance that the investment objective of the investment strategy will be achieved.

The Magnum Hybrid Long-Short Fund allows daily subscriptions, while redemptions are available twice a week (Mondays and Thursdays). The minimum application amount is ₹10 lakh, with a minimum additional purchase amount of ₹10,000.
Investments can be made through lump sum and SIPs. The benchmark for the investment strategy is the NIFTY 50 Hybrid Composite Debt 50:50 Index TRI.
The strategy will primarily invest between 65% and 75% of its assets in equity and equity-related instruments. The hedged portion will range from 0% to 75%, including index futures, stock futures, index options, stock options, and other derivative strategies (such as covered calls and protective puts) as part of hedged/arbitrage exposure. The unhedged portion, consisting of short derivatives, will range from 0% to 25%. The strategy will also invest 25% to 35% in debt and money market instruments (including units of debt-oriented mutual fund schemes), and up to 10% in units issued by REITs and InvITs (within prescribed SEBI limits). The Magnum Hybrid Long Short Fund will be managed by Gaurav Mehta, CFA, Head – SIF, Equity. Gaurav joined SBI Funds Management Limited in November 2018 as an Equity Analyst, later managing equity funds. In October 2021, he became CIO – Alternatives, Equity, overseeing the equity portion of Portfolio Management Services business. Since July 2025, he leads the equity investment strategy for Magnum SIF as Head – SIF, Equity.
