Tenant Accused of Fraud and Forgery Against Owners; Elderly Owner’s Condition Critical

A major controversy has erupted at Hotel Dasi (MS Airlines) in Andheri East after an incident in which a large amount of cash was allegedly thrown at a bar girl. While the hotel came into the spotlight due to that event, the owners have now leveled serious allegations against tenant Sundarraj Hegde.

The owners claim that Hegde has prepared forged documents to assert ownership rights and is attempting to illegally seize the property by misusing the police machinery.

According to information provided by Nimesh Shetty (son of Sanjeev Shetty, aged 76), the property belongs to Sanjeev Shetty and his partners. It has been registered as a partnership firm since 2009. Sundarraj Hegde has been running the hotel on rent since 2011. The tenancy was renewed as per the rent agreement and the consent terms of the Dindoshi City Civil Court.

However, it is alleged that in 2014, with the help of some officials, Hegde got himself recorded as the 'owner' in the BMC property tax records.

Rent was being paid regularly until 2022, after which it stopped completely. Hegde then filed a complaint in the Thane EOW (Economic Offences Wing) accusing the owners of creating forged documents. The owners have clarified that they have no transactions whatsoever in Thane district, and have alleged that this complaint is a clear misuse of the police system to grab the property.

Due to the ongoing tension and false cases, the health of 76-year-old Sanjeev Shetty has deteriorated severely. He is currently on the verge of life and death in the ICU at Hinduja Hospital. Nimesh Shetty said, “The mental harassment faced by my elderly father has led to this condition.”

Nimesh Shetty further stated that Sundarraj Hegde is already under investigation in three other cheating cases registered at Thane EOW. The current case is also being handled by the same officer (Neelima Pawar). He alleged that there has been no progress in the investigation.

The owners have submitted several documents as evidence, including the rent agreement, court consent decree, RTI replies, BMC records, and other papers. They have demanded a thorough investigation into the matter and strict action to stop attempts to illegally usurp the property.
