Somaiya athletes stand out at 36th National Junior Athletics championship in 2020

 


Mumbai, February __, 2021: Somaiya athletes representing Maharashtra shines at the national stage!

The national winner Poorva Sawant (U/20) secured second place in Triple Jump for 12.24-meter distance and Sharvari Avinash Parulekar (U/20) secured third place in Triple Jump for 12.17 meters.

The 36th National Junior Athletics Championships was held at Guwahati, Assam from Feb 6-10, 2020. These students have competed and won in their respective sports in the state-level competitions held last month to qualify for the national events. The students are being trained under the supervision of Somaiya Sports Academy’s highly qualified coaches.

The 36th National Junior Athletics Championships has seen 1637 boys and girls taking part in four age groups across 145 events in the five-day championships. It is thus the largest domestic event held in the country since the Covid-19 outbreak.

On the achievement Azaz Khan, Director of Somaiya sports academy said, “Getting into National junior championship is every sportsperson’s dream, and today we are super proud of our students to share the achievement to have won it on the national level! We are really grateful to our coaches for training the students tough and helping them to achieve big, Somaiya family extends heartfelt congratulations to them on this amazing achievement!
