Lions Club of Juhu & Ambashree Foundation inaugurates a fully renovated 12th floor of the Tata Memorial hospital supporting India’s fight against cancer

This successful monumental project was supported by the Main donor, Shri. Harsh Kilachand, (Ambashree Foundation) Renowned Industrialist and Philanthropist

 

Mumbai, August 15th, 2021: The Lions Club of Juhu and Ambashree foundation jointly inaugurated the Tata Memorial Hospital's fully renovated 12th floor, which features advanced technology, modern designs interior, A/C with heap filter, nurse calling station, isolation rooms, increased beds from 139 to 153 beds, and exceptional medical expertise, with the goal of providing the best cancer treatment to patients in the surrounding area and across the country.

The inauguration ceremony was officiated by the Chief Guest & Main Donor, Shri. Harsh Kilachand, (Ambashree Foundation) and Renowned Industrialist and Philanthropist; Guest of Honour, Shri. Lion Umesh Gandhi, Past District Governor, District 3231 A3. Other dignitaries present on this occasion were Dr. Rajendra Badwe, Director, Tata Memorial Centre; Shri Lion Raj Wankawala, Past President 2018-19 and Shri Lion Ashish Sheth, President 2021-22.

Commenting on this occasion, Dr. Rajendra Badwe, Director, Tata Memorial Centre said, “This renovation project was one of the most challenging project as in the first phase, half of the floor was getting renovated, while in the other half patients were getting operated. We wanted to make sure that existing patients were not inconvenienced while the refurbishment work went on.

The old building required some repairs and with the opening of the newly renovated 12th floor, we hope to deliver the highest quality cancer treatment and make it more accessible to all Indian citizens.”

The monumental project was well supported by the Main donor, Shri. Harsh Kilachand,(Ambashree Foundation) renowned Industrialist and Philanthropist, who contributed 80% of the project's entire cost of 1.8 crores.

“I am honored to support the Tata Memorial Hospital and the Juhu Lions Club, and to be a part of this monumental project. This newly rebuilt and completely equipped level will be beneficial to future generations and will aid in the finest treatment of cancer patients. Me and my organization will continue to support similar efforts in the future,” stated renowned industrialist, Shri. Harsh Kilachand (Ambashree Foundation).

The renovation project began in April 2019 and, after overcoming numerous hurdles, including the lockdown phase during the pandemic, was completed in March 2021. The inauguration ceremony was scheduled however the pandemic wave halted the occasion. However, Shri. Harsh Kilachand urged that patients be admitted first and the inauguration ceremony be postponed.

“We are delighted that the suggestion proved to be really useful, as the patient was admitted during the second wave of the pandemic, which was extremely severe. As a thought leader, Shri.Harsh Kilachand prioritized patients over the inauguration ceremony. We also value his ongoing commitment to the project.

Every year, Tata Memorial Hospital, handles over 80,000 new patients and 5,00,000 follow-up patients and with the fully renovated 12th floor they aim to treat more and more cancer patients across the country.
