KX, the global pioneer in vector and time-series data management, announced its entry into the Indian market to support the country as it looks to take a leadership role in the rapidly growing generative AI sector. The news comes as KX announces the general availability of KDB.AI Cloud, its free-to-use vector database for smarter artificial intelligence and the number 1 ranked vector database by DB-Engines.

With the launch of KDB.AI Cloud and the initiation of its Indian operations, KX seeks to empower Indian enterprises, developers, and startups to develop AI solutions that are not only cutting-edge but also responsible, inclusive, and tailored to India's specific needs. KDB.AI Cloud is now available as a free SaaS-based service from KX. India's developers, enterprises, and startups can seize this opportunity to embark on a transformative journey into the world of generative AI.

With India boasting the largest developer population globally, nearing 6 million developers, and producing 1.5 million engineering graduates annually, this announcement holds profound implications for India's innovation landscape.

Commenting on the news, Ashok Reddy CEO of KX said: "India's developer community has an enviable reputation globally. By establishing a permanent presence in the country, we will help this community unlock the transformative potential of generative AI. The launch of KDB.AI Cloud exemplifies our commitment to democratizing access to our market-leading technology and I’m excited to see the innovative applications and use cases that will emerge from our collaborations.

KX is also exploring collaborations with leading Indian enterprises, system integrators, and the Indian government to co-create AI solutions that address India's unique challenges and leverage its vast opportunities. Through KDB.AI, Indian organizations can harness the power of data to solve problems and seize opportunities that are distinctively Indian.”

Recognizing the massive Total Addressable Market (TAM) for AI in India (predicted to reach US$4.20bn by 2030) and with India rapidly emerging as a global leader in AI, KX has ambitious and expansive plans for India and it sees huge potential across a range of industries especially the financial services, telco and healthcare markets. Globally, KX has secured its position as the leading choice for major institutions. With India's surging AI ecosystem and KX's unparalleled database solutions, the company is aiming for nothing less than making KDB.AI the top vector database in India, echoing its global leadership status.

“To further cement our commitment to the Indian market, we've recently appointed a India based Country Manager and are aggressively expanding our team with sales, pre-sales, and dedicated onboarding roles to assist our Global System Integrators (GSIs). Notably, we're also exploring setting up an R&D hub in India, aiming to leverage the rich AI skill set the country offers and our aim is to grow the Indian office to around 50 employees in the short to mid-term. Beyond that there will be investments in skilling Indian developers, startups, GSI and GCC's on Generative AI and how to leverage the power of KDB.AI to help find Golden AI use cases for businesses" added Ashok Reddy.
